Delivering results, transforming communities": Ablekuma Central MCE marks one year in office with stakeholder engagement
The Municipal Chief Executive for Ablekuma Central, Hon. Frank Nkansah, has marked his first year in office with a stakeholders’ engagement themed “Delivering Results, Transforming Communities”, pledging deeper partnership and accountability to residents.
Addressing government officials, assembly members, clergy, business leaders, security agencies and residents on 10th June 2026, Hon. Nkansah said the gathering was to account to the people and chart strategies for accelerating development in the municipality.
“Today, gathering reflects our collective commitment to participatory governance, transparency, accountability and inclusive development. It provides us with the opportunity to account to the people we serve,” he said.
Hon. Nkansah highlighted significant gains across key sectors in 2025:
The Assembly improved roads in Happy Days, Mataheko, and Ajemaim areas.
“We did some great works on those roads.
We are still going to do more...
These interventions have contributed to improved accessibility, reducing flood risk and enhanced public convenience,” he noted.
He added that flooding in Ablekuma Central is now minimal compared to other areas.
Public education, waste management initiatives and regular clean-up exercises were intensified. “I want to commend our Assembly members who have done very well in the patch of homes, all the clean-up. We keep doing it every day and then, not only on the sanitation day,” he said.
The Assembly supported schools with learning materials and infrastructure. In healthcare, collaboration led to the development of a clinic in Sawaba and other facilities within the municipality.
The MCE praised businesses in the South Industrial Area and Abusukai for driving jobs and growth.
“Out of the budgeted revenue that we had planned to achieve last year... we were able to meet our revenue target. And we even exceeded it by about one million.
And this year, we want to do 20 million,” he revealed.
Hon. Nkansah said employment opportunities were created through YEA, the Municipal Assembly, Zoomlion, TOR, Cocoa Board, security services, and local contractors using “local content”.
He also acknowledged support to religious bodies, chiefs, communities, healthcare, and businesses.
“It is therefore imperative that we strengthen our partnership, deepen our citizenship participation, and work together to develop innovative solutions that will address these challenges,” he urged.
While celebrating achievements, he admitted challenges remain in sanitation, infrastructure deficits, youth unemployment, and revenue mobilization. “Our ultimate goal as Assembly is to build a municipality where every resident has access to opportunities, essential services, and a safe and clean prosperous environment,” he said.
Hon. Nkansah commended the Member of Parliament, Hon. Abdul Latifa, traditional authorities, department heads, civil society, faith-based organizations, media and residents for their support.
He joked about nearly adopting the MP’s name due to the “goodies” it brings to Ablekuma Central.
“Together we can transform Ablekuma Central into a model municipality that delivers results and creates lasting opportunities for all,” he concluded.
Hon. Abdul Latif Dan, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, has urged constituents to acknowledge the progress made in the municipality while stressing that development requires continuous effort, just like personal hygiene.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement on 10th June 2026, the MP, who also represents the President at the event, said he had to “be very careful” in his remarks because of the weight of the office he holds.
“Need to be very careful because he represents the president of the nation. So I need to be very careful,” he told the gathering before delivering his welcome address.
Hon. Latif Dan said the meeting was about accountability, not politics. He told residents he was “so delighted” to stand before them to account for what has been done “day in and day out” since they voted for him.
“You voted for us to represent you. We need to come before you and account for what you have achieved. Many difficulties. We cannot run away from that,” he said.
“There is no political... What are we? It is about the nation Ghana. The host.”
Using a simple analogy, the MP reminded residents that progress, like cleanliness, must be maintained daily.
“And then this common city, no matter how handsome, beautiful we are, you still need to bathe. We cannot take it away from you.
No matter how handsome, beautiful you are, you still need to bathe.
In principle,” he said.
“We've come a long way. And there's a need for us to appreciate where we are. It's very important.”
He acknowledged that the municipality still faces challenges, but emphasized that residents and leaders must focus on what has been achieved so far and build on it together.
Hon. Latif Dan stressed that the engagement was above party lines and centered on Ghana’s collective interest.
“In this hall. There is no political... It is about the nation Ghana,” he reiterated, calling on constituents to trust the process while technical teams handle the details of development projects.
He concluded by thanking everyone for attending and said he would “say what” needed to be said for the good of Ablekuma Central.
The MP’s remarks came during the same stakeholders’ engagement where MCE Hon. Frank Nkansah presented a one-year account of the Assembly’s work under the theme “Delivering Results, Transforming Communities”.
