District Assembly elections: US ambassador meets EC boss

United States Ambassador to Ghana Virginia E. Palmer has met with the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Madam Jean Mensa.
The meeting was to discuss Ghana’s District-Level elections to be held on October 3, 2023, and the upcoming national elections in 2024.
The EC is expected to hold this year’s District Assembly Elections which will see new assemblymen and unit committee members elected into office.
The elections are intended to serve as a trial for the general elections in 2024 to elect a new president and new members of parliament as the current president's tenure comes to an end.
Jean Mensa is slated to preside over the national elections for the second time following 2020, which resulted in several disputes.
The meeting with the US Ambassador would most likely discuss a way to resolve and prevent these in the next elections
