Don’t blame us for rising food prices in Ghana – Russia
The Russian Embassy in Ghana has refuted claims that Russia is to be blamed for the rising cost of food items in Ghana.
In a series of tweets, the Russian embassy said food and energy prices began to rapidly rise already in 2020 due to systematic miscalculations of the financial and economic policies of Western countries during the coronavirus pandemic.
Russia said it is unfair to say its military action against Ukraine is to be blamed for rising food prices.
Instead, Russia said the cause of food hikes is as a result of many factors including, global inflation caused by short-sighted financial and monetary mechanisms that the West resorted to during the pandemic.
