Dr. Razak Kojo Opoku, a prominent member of the Bryan Acheampong for President 2028 campaign, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to adopt a bottom-top approach in its reorganisation efforts as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Friday, July 11, 2025, Dr. Opoku expressed concern over what he described as the party’s “extremely weak” internal structures, calling for urgent reforms before any flagbearer is elected.

“We need Bottom-Top structure elections, and a serious, committed electioneering army,” he wrote.

“Let’s fix the structures of the party first at all levels of leadership before electing a flagbearer for 2028.”

His comments come at a time when discussions within the NPP are intensifying over the direction of the party following its loss in the 2024 general elections.

Dr. Opoku’s call is seen as a push for grassroots empowerment and a more solid organisational foundation to improve the party’s prospects in the next electoral cycle.

The Bryan Acheampong campaign has been gaining traction among some factions of the party, with calls for internal reforms gaining prominence in recent weeks.

Already, the National Council of the party has scheduled a National Delegates Conference for Friday, July 19.

Chairman of the Planning Committee for the upcoming National Delegates Conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Joseph Osei-Owusu, popularly known as Joe Wise, has announced that a total of 5,675 delegates are expected to participate in the two-day event.

The conference is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 18, and Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra.

Addressing journalists at a media briefing held at the NPP Headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, on Thursday, July 10, Mr. Osei-Owusu noted that all activities related to the conference will be held exclusively at the stadium.

He assured the public and party faithful that detailed logistical and security preparations are already in place to ensure the event runs smoothly and without incident.

“We have made all the necessary arrangements to ensure that this important conference proceeds in a peaceful, well-organised, and secure environment,” he stated.

 The National Delegates Conference is expected to bring together key stakeholders, party executives, and grassroots representatives as the NPP sets its agenda ahead of the 2028 general elections.
