President and founder of the UP Tradition Institute, Dr. Razak Kojo Opoku, has dismissed suggestions by some members of the “Rich Ideas” camp that he could be expelled from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if their preferred candidate wins the party’s upcoming flagbearer contest.

In a strongly worded response, Dr. Opoku described the claims as laughable, insisting that “tenants can never sack a landlord.” He argued that his long-standing commitment to the NPP far outweighs the contributions of some of his critics.

“Some of us were card-bearing members of the NPP as far back as 2006 while still students at the University of Cape Coast, at a time when perhaps your candidate and some of you were not even members of the party,” he stated.

Dr. Opoku further recalled his role in the party’s 2016 electoral victory, revealing that he, along with Andy Owusu (Special Aide to Chairman Wontumi), Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah, and the late Hon. John Kumah, were tasked with a “special assignment” involving the APC and other smaller parties, which contributed significantly to the NPP’s success.

He also defended Oheneba Nana Asiedu of Wontumi FM, who he said has come under unwarranted attacks from some party members.

Dr. Opoku described him as one of the most trusted allies during the party’s opposition years between 2011 and 2016, particularly through his work at Boss FM.

According to Dr. Opoku, attempts to discredit loyalists for parochial reasons only demonstrate “selfishness and ingratitude.”
