EC announces early voting date for December elections

Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, has announced that early voting for the presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana will take place on December 2, 2024.
This announcement was made during a meeting with the national executive of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in Accra on May 28.
The early voting is designed for eligible voters who will be unable to vote at their registered polling stations on the general election day, which is scheduled for December 7, 2024.
This arrangement primarily serves personnel from various security and public service sectors.
Mrs. Mensa specified that the eligible groups for early voting include the Ghana Armed Forces, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), National Security, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Information Services Department.
Other eligible groups are members of the National Ambulance Service, the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Prisons Service, the Ghana Journalists Association, the Ghana Police Service, and the National Media Commission.
Although the early voting will occur on December 2, the results will not be disclosed until after the general elections on December 7, according to the EC chair.
