ECOWAS Chairperson Julius Maada Bio pays tribute to victims of military helicopter crash

The Chairperson of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, has paid his respects to the victims of Ghana’s recent military helicopter crash, which claimed the lives of two Cabinet Ministers and six others in the Ashanti Region.

During his visit, President Bio laid flowers and signed the condolence book in honour of the departed, expressing solidarity with the government and people of Ghana in their time of grief.

 

The ceremony formed part of ongoing tributes at the Jubilee House, where dignitaries, government officials, and members of the public have gathered to mourn the eight lives lost in the Sikaman crash in the Adansi Akrofuom area.

The gesture formed part of the ongoing three-day national mourning period declared by the government to honour the memory of the departed.

Those who perished in the crash were identified as:

Hon. Dr. Murtala Mohammed

Alhaji Muniru Mohammed

Dr. Samuel Sarpong

Mr. Samuel Aboagye

Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala

Flying Officer Twum Ampadu

Flight Sergeant Ernest Addo
