Election 2024: Bawumia elected NPP flagbearer

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has emerged as the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the party's presidential primaries.

In the elections held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, Dr. Bawumia secured a significant victory, garnering 118,210 votes, which represents 61.43% of the total votes.

His closest rival, Kennedy Agyapong, secured 71,996 votes, accounting for 37.41% of the vote share.

The other two contestants, Dr. Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai Nimo, received 1,449 votes (0.75%) and 781 votes (0.41%), respectively.

The electoral process witnessed the participation of some 200,000 delegates from across the country, underscoring the significance of the NPP's primaries in the run-up to the 2024 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia's victory in the flagbearer race paves the way for him to lead the NPP in the forthcoming elections.

He will face prominent opponents, including the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, and Alan Kyerematen in the 2024 elections.

This electoral outcome sets the stage for a competitive political landscape as the various candidates vie for the presidency.
