The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Isaac Adongo, has charged the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to set up a committee to investigate how he and Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also the head of Economic Management team, “swindled” Ghanaians with “lies” as far as the depreciation of the cedi is concerned.

The opposition lawmaker said rather than setting up a 40-member Emergency Forex Development Committee to arrest, to some extent, the perennial fall of the cedi against other major foreign currencies, particularly the US dollar, the President and his deputy must be investigated.

Mr Adongo stated that the eloquent lies peddled by President Akufo-Addo and Dr Bawumia concerning the fall of the cedi, should be looked into by a committee.

He blamed the two gentlemen for mismanaging the economy, which, in his view, has led to the depreciation of the cedi.

He tweeted: “Nana should rather set up a committee to investigate how he and the economic comedian swindled Ghanaians with brilliant and eloquent lies. When you go about calculating inflation in Mallam Atta market and use rate of change to calculate depreciation, what do you expect? Miracles?”.
