Ghana secures 100% victory in AU elections

Ghana has achieved a historic victory at the African Union (AU) elections in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with all three of its candidates securing key positions.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced the milestone on Wednesday, hailing it as a 100% win for Ghana at the AU headquarters.
In the latest results, Ambassador Jane Gasu Aheto has been elected to serve on the African Union Commission on International Law (AUCIL), while Lawyer Kwami Edem Senanu secured re-election to the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption (AUABC).
These victories follow the emphatic win of Ambassador Amma A. Twum-Amoah, who was elected AU Commissioner on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
Minister Ablakwa commended the campaign team, Ghana’s Mission in Addis Ababa, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, and President John Dramani Mahama for their efforts in securing this remarkable achievement.
“The Black Star rises again! Ghana remains a strong force on the African continent,” he declared.
So far, Ghana is the only country to have won all its contested positions, marking a significant diplomatic success
