Ghana will retrogress with Mahama as president; reject him: Akufo-Addo to Ghanaians

President Nana Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians to reject the candidacy of John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming election, claiming the former president was unfit to lead the nation.
Speaking during his tour of the Central Region on Wednesday, November 6, Akufo-Addo made a direct appeal to voters, emphasising the importance of selecting a leader who would drive the country forward.
According to President Akufo-Addo, Mr Mahama represented Ghana's past and lacked the progressive vision necessary for the country's future.
He argued bringing Mahama back into power would hinder Ghana’s development and suggested the former president’s leadership style was out of touch with the current needs and aspirations of the people.
President Akufo-Addo instead advocated for voters to support Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and his vice president.
He described Dr Bawumia as the leader capable of continuing the policies of the current administration, highlighting Dr Bawumia’s economic expertise and commitment to driving transformation in Ghana.
John Dramani Mahama, who is running as the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has positioned himself as a candidate for change.
However, Akufo-Addo’s remarks reflect the NPP's strategy of presenting the NDC candidate as unprepared to address the country’s current challenges.
