Ghanaian gospel musician Kwabena Asanti has opened up about a frightening and life-changing chapter of his life, revealing that he survived multiple physical attacks and a near-fatal encounter during the period he stepped away from music.

Speaking in an emotional interview on Ayekoo Ayekoo with Docta Kay Nie, the singer shared how his life took an unexpected and dangerous turn after he paused his music career.

“When I stopped doing music, I experienced a series of physical attacks,” Asanti disclosed. “At one point, someone almost killed me at Mile 7. He wasn’t even looking for me — he was after someone else. I just resembled the person.”

According to him, the case of mistaken identity nearly cost him his life.

“If he had caught me, I wouldn’t be alive today,” he said.

He recalled hearing what he believes was a divine voice encouraging him to hold on for awhile.

“I kept hearing a voice saying, ‘Kwabena, hold on… hold on and wait a while.’”

Asanti described his talent as a special gift from God, explaining that songwriting and recording come naturally to him. he says inspiration flows effortlessly.

“Songwriting isn’t difficult for me. God has given me that gift. When I go to the studio, I don’t stay all day. Within two hours, I can record about three songs. Sometimes I can even complete an album in a day. I don’t force it — the songs just come,” he explained.

Now fully back to his music journey, the gospel artist sees his survival and comeback as proof that his life carries a divine assignment. He believes his experiences were meant to redirect him toward his calling.

His testimony has since resonated with many fans, who have praised his resilience, faith, and determination to keep going despite the challenges.

For Kwabena Asanti, surviving those dark moments wasn’t by chance — it was destiny guiding him back to the path he was always meant to follow.
