I'm not lobbying to be Bawumia's running mate – Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu

Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has said he is not lobbying to be the running mate of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party.
The Suame MP is one of the names being speculated to partner Dr Bawumia for the 2024 general election.
Others include Education Minister Yaw Adutwum and Energy Minister Mathew Opoku Prempeh.
The NPP has indicated that Dr Bawumia’s running mate would be from the Ashanti Region, the party’s stronghold.
Rebuffing a reproach from former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu and Minority Chief Whip Governs Agbodza, for him to focus on his job as Majority Leader instead of angling for the running mate slot, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said on the floor of parliament on Thursday, 23 November 2023: "Mr Speaker, let me state that there is no contest for running mate and I’m not involved in campaigning for the running mate position, it should be loud and clear".
Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu urged the minority caucus to stop dabbling in speculation and focus on debating the 2024 budget.
