Internal intimidation and revenge politics have no place in the NPP’s tradition- Kennedy Agyapong warns
New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong has made a strong case for a new style of leadership, promising to prioritise unity, job creation and industrial growth if given the mandate to lead the party into the 2028 general election.
Addressing party delegates in a nationwide televised message on Thursday, January 29, 2026, the former Assin Central Member of Parliament positioned himself as a unifier, assuring members that his leadership would focus on bringing everyone together rather than deepening divisions within the party.
According to him, internal intimidation and revenge politics have no place in the NPP’s tradition, stressing that the party must remain open, democratic and supportive of its grassroots base.
“I am not someone who believes in settling scores,” Agyapong stated.
“Our party should grow stronger, not smaller.
We must protect every member and give everyone a voice.”
He reminded delegates that the NPP’s foundation was built on courage and democratic principles, urging them to safeguard those values as they prepare to elect a presidential candidate for the 2028 general elections
Beyond party matters, Mr Agyapong laid out an economic vision centred on industrialisation and employment opportunities, particularly for young people.
He argued that expanding local industries and supporting businesses would help tackle unemployment and improve livelihoods across the country.
“The future of our youth depends on jobs,” he said.
“Industrialisation is the path forward, and that is what I stand for. If you trust me with the mandate to serve, I will deliver.”
The NPP is set to hold its flagbearership election on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with voting expected to take place across the country.
Party officials, working alongside the Electoral Commission, have assured members of a transparent and well-organised process.
