It’s not true that Bryan Acheampong paid delegates from Eastern Region for Bawumia – Fred Oware

Senior Advisor to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has dismissed claims by fellow aspirant, Dr Bryan Acheampong, that he financed delegates in the Eastern Region on Dr Bawumia’s behalf.
According to Fred Oware, such allegations are unfounded and seek to undermine the credibility of the former Vice President’s victory in the party’s 2023 presidential primaries.
Speaking in an interview on Pure FM on Wednesday, August 27, Mr Oware said Dr Acheampong’s claims should be treated with contempt. “It is simply not true that Bryan Acheampong paid delegates from the Eastern Region for Dr Bawumia.
His victory was built on his message, his track record, and the confidence that party members have in his leadership,” he stressed.
Mr Oware further noted that the NPP’s internal election was free and fair, and the suggestion that money exchanged hands in favour of Dr Bawumia disrespects the integrity of the delegates who voted.
“Our delegates are discerning; they made their choice based on conviction, not because someone lined their pockets.
To suggest otherwise is to insult the entire electoral process of the party,” he argued.
He urged party members to remain united and to focus on the task of winning the 2024 general elections rather than entertaining divisive claims. “
We should not allow unfounded allegations to derail our collective efforts. Dr Bawumia remains committed to leading the NPP to victory, and he will do so with honesty, humility and dedication,” Mr Oware said.
