John Mahama trounce Bawumia, others with 53.1% in new polls—Global Info Analytics
A recent poll conducted by Global Info Analytics shows former President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the lead for the 2024 presidential race, with 53.1% support among registered voters.
The survey, conducted from October 7 to October 12, sampled 1,969 respondents from all 16 regions of Ghana. The poll was carried out through random telephone interviews, with a margin of error of 2.74% and a confidence level of 95%.
Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) follows with 39.0% support.
Other contenders, including Nana Kwame Bediako and Alan Kyerematen, polled 5.2% and 1.7%, respectively, with the remaining candidates collectively receiving around 1% of the vote.
Mr Musa Dankwa, Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, highlighted that key factors influencing voter decisions include the economy, unemployment, and education.
Issues such as corruption and rising fuel prices also played a significant role in voter sentiment.
The poll also revealed that 27% of voters who supported President Akufo-Addo in the 2020 elections have shifted their allegiance away from the NPP.
Additionally, 66% of respondents believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, while only 24% feel it is on the right track.
Mr. Dankwa noted that first-time voters and the youth demographic are showing growing support for Nana Kwame Bediako, suggesting a potential shift in voter dynamics as the election draws nearer.
Mr Dankwa spoke in an interview on Accra-based Adom FM.
