Kamala Harris arrives in Ghana

The Vice President of the United States of America (USA), Kamala Harris, has arrived in Ghana to kick off her three-day tour of the West African country.
Ms Harris touched down at the Kotoka International Airport on Sunday, 26th March at about noon.
She was welcomed by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and scores of Ghanaians who waved miniature Ghana and American flags.
Dr Bawumia wished her a pleasant and fruitful day.
Kamala Harris’ visit is expected to build on the recent U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit that President [Joe] Biden hosted in Washington in December 2022.
The trip is also meant to strengthen the United States’ partnerships throughout Africa and advance our shared efforts on security and economic prosperity.
While in Ghana, the US Vice-President will meet with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and some government officials.
Discussions will be centered around regional and global priorities including democracy, sustainable economic growth, food security and the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war.
The US Vice-President will strengthen people-to-people ties and engage with civil society, including young leaders, business representatives, entrepreneurs, and members of the African Diaspora.
She will also visit the Cape Coast castle while in the country.
She will head to Tanzania and Zambia after her three-day stay in Ghana.
