Lands Minister donates 45 water pumps to Wa West MP to support dry season farming
Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has paid a courtesy visit to Colonel Buah and his team at the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAiMOS) headquarters in Accra, in a meeting aimed at discussing operational strategies against illegal mining activities.
During the closed-door session, Mr. Toobu received 45 water pumps, approved by Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, to support his dry season farming initiative, dubbed “Water is Wealth”, which seeks to provide alternative livelihoods for communities in the Wa West District.
The MP expressed gratitude to the Minister for supporting the project and emphasised its importance in promoting sustainable agriculture and reducing dependence on galamsey.
Speaking to NAiMOS staff led by Col. Buah, Mr. Toobu assured continued advocacy for a well-staffed and fully equipped task force to tackle the illegal mining menace.
He highlighted that the discussions during the visit had reinforced his confidence in the ongoing fight against galamsey.
He also extended best wishes for a speedy recovery to the NAiMOS personnel who were shot during operations the previous day, condemning the attack as an act of cowardice.
Mr. Toobu called for a reassessment of strategies and rules of engagement to ensure continued success in the battle against illegal mining.
The visit underscores the MP’s commitment to supporting both agricultural development and anti-galamsey efforts in his constituency.
