Linda Akweley Ocloo sets record as fastest-vetted ministerial nominee

The Greater Accra Regional Minister-designate, Linda Akweley Ocloo, has made history as the first nominee to complete her vetting in record time before Parliament’s Appointments Committee.
The Shai-Osudoku Member of Parliament (MP) appeared before the committee on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, but unlike other nominees who faced lengthy questioning, her session lasted less than 10 minutes.
Earlier in the day, Defence Minister-nominee Dr. Edward Omane Boamah endured a five-hour grilling by the committee.
However, Ocloo’s vetting was notably brief, as she was not subjected to extensive questioning.
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin remarked that the strong delegation accompanying the nominee was a testament to her competence.
The committee chairman, Bernard Ahiafor, also acknowledged her guests before formally discharging her.
If approved, Linda Akweley Ocloo is expected to focus on urban development, youth empowerment, and enhancing public services in the Greater Accra Region
