The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has asserted that former President John Dramani Mahama is far behind President Akufo-Addo when it comes to hospital infrastructure development. 

In a statement on Facebook on Thursday, November 28, Mr Nkansah emphasised that President Akufo-Addo's administration has made significant strides in expanding healthcare facilities across the country, particularly through the Agenda 111 hospitals project, which aims to build hospitals in every district.

He contrasted Akufo-Addo’s extensive healthcare development with the limited number of hospitals built during Mahama's tenure, suggesting that the former president's efforts were concentrated in just a few regions, particularly in Accra. 

According to Nkansah, this disparity highlights the current government's commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian, regardless of their location, has access to proper healthcare facilities.

The NEIP CEO further highlighted that President Akufo-Addo’s government has been proactive in addressing healthcare needs by ensuring that hospitals are not only built in urban centres but also in rural and underserved areas. 

He pointed to the rapid progress made under the Agenda 111 initiative, with numerous facilities either completed or under construction.

"On which President did better with providing Health Infrastructure, President Akufo-Addo has ensured every District is getting a Hospital whereas Fmr Prez Mahama built 3 or 4 big Hospitals in Greater Accra, if we even grant him UGMC which is a Prez Mills project."

"Some People in Accra will draw conclusions based on 4 facilities in Gt. Accra when one President is touching every part of the country. The difference is not even close," he posted.

Nkansah’s remarks underscore the growing political discourse surrounding infrastructure development, with the Akufo-Addo government claiming to have significantly outpaced its predecessor in terms of healthcare investments
