The resignation of the former flagbearer hopeful of the governing New Patriotic Party Alan Kyerematen has left some voters in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, divided.

A portion of these voters believe that the party's leadership has not treated the former Minister of Trade and Industry fairly in the process leading up to the selection of a flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.

During interviews on The Citizen's Show, hosted by Kwabena Bobie Ansah on Accra 100.5 FM on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, these Ashanti region voters expressed their dissatisfaction with the treatment meted out to Mr Kyerematen.

They are of the opinion that he has served the party well and deserves better treatment.

According to one voter, Mr Kyerematen's decision to run as an independent candidate in the 2024 general elections was a commendable move, given the circumstances he finds himself under.

Mr Kwabena Manu, a trader at the Kumasi Central Market, also believes that Alan's departure from the party was long overdue, considering the way he appeared to have been treated.

Mr Manu emphasised Alan's significant role within the party and argued that he should not have been treated in such a manner.
