My gov’t will implement a scheme to support artisans if I become President – Mahama

The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has shared an inspiring experience from his journey to Wa in the Upper West Region.
During his trip, he made several stops between Sawla and Wa to engage with local artisans, whose dedication and innovative use of “appropriate technology” left a profound impression on him.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, 13 June 2024, Mr. Mahama praised the artisans for their “unwavering support and tireless dedication to their craft,” which he found both awe-inspiring and essential for community development.
He emphasised the importance of technical and vocational education, vowing that his government would prioritise these sectors to empower local craftsmen and women.
“My government will prioritise technical and vocational education, implement a scheme to support master craftsmen and women to train apprentices and support artisans with funds and start-up equipment,” Mr. Mahama stated.
This commitment is part of his broader vision to enhance the skills and capabilities of the country’s workforce, ensuring that every Ghanaian has the opportunity to thrive.
The NDC flagbearer noted the palpable enthusiasm for change among the country’s political leadership, which he encountered firsthand during his interactions.
“The enthusiasm and zeal for change in the country’s political leadership were evident. This only solidified my commitment to implementing meaningful and transformative policies that will uplift the lives of every Ghanaian,” Mr. Mahama said.
Drawing inspiration from the artisans' energy and passion, Mr. Mahama expressed a renewed sense of purpose and determination to lead Ghana towards progress and prosperity.
Their energy and passion give me a renewed sense of purpose and drive, and I am more determined than ever to lead this country to greater heights,” he affirmed.
As he concluded his reflections, Mr. Mahama called on all Ghanaians to join him in building a better future for the nation.
“Together, we will build the Ghana we want and move on to progress and prosperity!” he added.
