NDC Yilo race: Tax evasion, criminal conduct claims against me "malicious, baseless" lies – Ologo
Mr Michael Ologo, a parliamentary aspirant of the Yilo Krobo Constituency of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied ever evading taxes, impersonating anyone or involving himself in any criminal conduct as alleged by one party member Mr Michael Amanor in a petition dated 6 September 2019, which, the latter claimed he addressed and sent to the party’s Committee for Settling Outstanding Disputes chaired by former Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho.
In a rejoinder copied to ClassFMonline.com through his lawyers S&S, Mr Ologo described as “unfortunate” and “untrue”, an earlier publication of the allegations against him.
“Our client maintains that at all times material to his decision to contest the Constituency primaries as a parliamentary candidate of the Yilo Krobo Constituency of the National Democratic Congress party, he has always complied with any, and/or all the party’s constitutional mandates which have seen him successfully contest the party’s parliamentary primaries for the Yilo Krobo Constituency on, at least, two previous occasions, with his present aspirations being his third attempt at doing so where all indications show his victory being imminent”, his lawyers asserted.
They continued: “…Our client has never been the subject of any investigation for tax evasion but rather a victim of such clear misconception of events … that took place sometime in the year 2017, as he presides over a company called Timax Development Group, through whom an officer of his company carried out some unlawful activities and for which that officer was arrested and is rather being investigated by the police”.
According to them, “Subsequent publications by one Daniel Koranteng Kwagyiri of Ahotoronline.com as well as another publication by one John Addo-Fening of ritefmonline.org, particularly dated 4 July 2017, both apodictically vindicate our client of any such baseless allegations of tax evasion…”
Concerning the claim that he never graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University as contained in Mr Amanor’s petition, the lawyers for Mr Ologo said: “… As far back as 12 May 2009, the Southeastern Oklahoma State University had published the list of all graduating students of the school for the school’s commencement, which was scheduled for 16 May 2009 at Paul Laird Field in Durant, Oklahoma in the United States of America”.
“Our client informs us that a perusal of the list provided by the Southeastern Oklahoma State University through its online portal www.ntxe-news.com, shows that all candidates that graduated from the school in that year, 2009, were listed on that online platform, with our client’s name conspicuously listed as a graduating student of the school”.
Editor’s Note: ClassFMonline.com effectively retracts the earlier story which contained the allegations against Mr Ologo and renders an unqualified and sincere apology to him for any harm he may have suffered as a result of that publication.
