The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accepted the Electoral Commission's (EC) commitment to release the updated 2024 Provisional Voters Register to all political parties for scrutiny within one week.

This agreement follows discussions during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Tuesday, 1 October 2024, where the NDC called for a forensic audit of the voter register.

In a statement issued by the party, signed by its General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC expressed satisfaction with the EC's decision to re-exhibit the updated Provisional Voters Register.

The party recommended that this re-exhibition be conducted both online and offline to ensure wider accessibility.

"The Functional Executive Committee of the NDC has deliberated and decided to accept the EC’s promise to release the corrected and updated version of the 2024 Provisional Voters Register for scrutiny within one week," the statement read.

It emphasised the need for transparency in the re-exhibition process, advocating for both digital and physical platforms to allow all eligible voters to verify their details.

"We recommend that the re-exhibition exercise should be conducted online and offline at the exhibition centres," the statement noted.

The NDC further demanded a multi-stakeholder and interparty examination of the EC's IT system, citing concerns over admitted vulnerabilities that could compromise the integrity of the 2024 general elections.

"Additionally, the NDC demands a multi-stakeholder and interparty examination of the IT system of the Electoral Commission with the aim of addressing the vulnerabilities that the EC itself has admitted to,"  the statement said.

It added: "These vulnerabilities could be exploited by criminals to compromise the integrity of the December 07, 2024 elections if not addressed."
