NDC celebrates 8th position on ballot, calls it a sign to end NPP's unparalleled corruption
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed satisfaction with securing the 8th position on the ballot for the 2024 presidential election, viewing it as a symbol of change.
Following the balloting process held on Friday, September 20, 2024, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey addressed the media, emphasising the number eight represents a pivotal turning point for the country.
He argued that after eight years of what the NDC describes as "mismanagement and corruption" under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), it was time for a new direction under their leadership.
“We came here asking for God’s perfect will to be done and we accept the number eight.
“After eight critical years of decay, lack of order, corruption, and darkness that has engulfed this country, I believe the number eight is quite significant.
“It tells the country that this is the moment to stop the decay after these eight years,” Mr. Kwetey stated.
He further expressed satisfaction that the public witnessed what he called the NPP’s disregard for the initial balloting agreement, suggesting that the ruling party manipulated the process in its favour.
“The country clearly sees those who are doing everything possible to act improperly and those who are doing what is right for the sake of Ghana,” Mr Kwetey added.
