NDC confident of defeating NPP in all free and fair elections
The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that it is confident of defeating the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in any free and fair election in Ghana.
Rashid Tanko-Computer, the NDC’s Deputy Director for IT and Elections, made the assertion during an appearance on Accra-based Star FM.
He argued that the NPP lacks broad public support and alleged irregularities in the party’s internal processes.
According to him, the NDC remains committed to transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
“The NDC does not seek to win elections through unfair means.
We want transparency and fairness. Under such conditions, we are confident we will defeat the NPP,” he stated.
Mr. Tanko-Computer further claimed that public dissatisfaction with the NPP would translate into electoral defeat under credible conditions.
He accused the opposition party of manipulating results in past contests, insisting that a transparent process would favour the NDC.
He also referenced the NPP’s internal elections, noting that the party had reportedly set up an anti-rigging squad during its primary.
“During their internal polls, they even set up an anti-rigging squad. Why would they do that if everything was above board?” he questioned.
Mr. Tanko-Computer maintained that the NDC’s confidence is rooted in what he described as its inclusive governance approach and policy direction.
He said the party prioritises openness and public engagement in managing national affairs.
He concluded by reiterating the NDC’s commitment to closely monitoring electoral processes to safeguard democratic integrity.
The remarks come amid increasing political activity as Ghana prepares for upcoming elections, with parties positioning themselves and reinforcing their narratives on credibility and public trust.
