NDC supporters lock office of Dormaa West District Assembly Coordinator over appointment dispute

Tensions flared in the Dormaa West District on Monday morning as a group of alleged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) locked up the office of the District Assembly Coordinator at Nkrankwanta, protesting the assumption of duty by a newly appointed director.
According to eyewitness reports, the supporters gathered at the Assembly premises early in the morning and prevented the new official, who was reporting for duty for the first time, from entering the office.
The aggrieved group alleged that the appointee has a questionable record from her previous posting and claimed she would not contribute positively to the district’s development agenda.
Attempts by Assembly staff to intervene proved unsuccessful, as the protesters insisted that the director’s appointment should be reviewed.
Local police officers were later seen at the scene to maintain order and prevent the situation from escalating into violence.
Our reporter from Nsroma FM, who has been following the incident, indicates that the District Chief Executive (DCE) and regional party executives have been notified and are expected to hold an emergency meeting to resolve the standoff.
As of the time of filing this report, the office remained locked, and the new director had yet to assume her post.
Authorities have urged calm while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the protest and the concerns raised by the supporters.
