NDC vows to compare EC's officer's list with NPP's delegates' list over hints of potential partisan election officials' list

In the lead-up to Ghana's December 7 general elections, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns over the potential appointment of partisan polling officials.
According to NDC, the Electoral Commission (EC) needs to ensure a non-partisan selection process for Election Day officials, following an advance warning from NDC's watchdog group that intends to compare the list of electoral officials with known National Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates.
The Director of Elections and IT, Dr Edward Omane Boamah in a statement dated Tuesday, November 26, 2024, said its operations under the hashtag #EAGLEEYES, referenced Regulation 19(6) of CI127, which mandates that the EC publish the names of appointed election officials.
The statement emphasized that a preemptive check on these names is critical to prevent any partisan influence at the polls, particularly following concerns raised over NPP polling station executives serving as EC officials during the recent Ejisu by-election.
The NDC announced that they had already obtained NPP delegate lists, which will be compared to the EC’s list of electoral officials to flag any instances of political bias.
“We urge all election officials to be professional and non-partisan,” the NDC stated, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a fair voting process.
Though the EC has one remaining day to release the list of appointed polling officials, the NDC's watchdog group expressed disappointment over the delay, warning that “time no dey” for late disclosures that may hamper the process of eliminating partisan officials.
In the statement, the NDC called on Ghanaians to support NDC's Presidential Candidate John Dramani Mahama.
According to the NDC, Mahama's vision is linked to broader economic promises, such as the "24-hour economy initiative" which pledges to create well-paying jobs.
