NPP invites presidential aspirants for balloting ahead of January 31 primary on Friday

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially invited its presidential aspirants to participate in a balloting exercise to determine their positions on the ballot paper for the upcoming January 31, 2026, Presidential Primary.
The invitation, signed by Mr. William Yamoah, Secretary to the Presidential Elections Committee (PEC), was issued from the party’s headquarters in Accra on October 7, 2025.
According to the notice, the balloting exercise is scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., and will take place at the NPP Headquarters, Asylum Down, Accra.
The letter congratulated all aspirants on completing the vetting process and urged them to confirm receipt of the invitation. It further emphasised the importance of their participation as part of the NPP’s commitment to transparency and internal democracy.
“We kindly request your confirmation of receipt of this invitation.
Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the undersigned,” the statement read.
The invitation was copied to the General Secretary, Acting National Chairman, and Chairman of the Presidential Elections Committee.
The distribution list for the exercise includes five prominent NPP presidential hopefuls:
Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong
Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong
Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong
H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum
The upcoming primary is expected to determine who leads the opposition NPP into the 2028 general elections, as the party seeks to maintain political continuity after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s tenure.
Observers anticipate a highly competitive but disciplined internal contest, with the party’s leadership stressing the importance of unity, fairness, and adherence to established procedures throughout the process.
