NPP need a candidate who will overturn Bawumia 's over one million vote loss-OPK
The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency in the Eastern Region and key member of the Dr Bryan Acheampong for President 2028, Mr Davis Opoku Ansah(OPK), has called on party delegates to elect a strong, charismatic and unifying candidate capable of leading the party back to power in the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the team has spent weeks touring the entire country, engaging grassroots supporters and community leaders to better understand their concerns and aspirations.
“We have gone through the whole country every week, engaging leaders and listening to their messages,” he said.
“The ultimate aim of every political organisation is to win political power so that it can transform the lives of the people through innovation, development and the fulfilment of promises.”
Mr. Opoku Ansah stressed that the party is focused on building a solid and united front to champion the dreams of citizens. He noted that the next leader must possess strong organisational skills, charisma and the ability to unite members across all levels.
The MP for Mpreaso made this comment, speaking in an interview ahead of Saturday's Presidential primary on Thursday.
“We need a candidate who is good, charismatic and capable of overturning the over 1.8 million votes we lost in the last elections,” he stated.
“We need someone who can bring everybody together, unite the party and lead a vigorous campaign to capture power in 2028.”
He expressed confidence that delegates are ready and eager to rally behind what he described as “the right champion” during the upcoming internal contest scheduled for Saturday.
Touching on the issue of experience within the party, the Mpraeso lawmaker argued that longevity alone does not determine a candidate’s ability to win elections.
He cited examples of past leaders who rose quickly to power.
“You don’t necessarily need long years in the party to win votes,” he explained.
“John Mahama came in and won power, and we have seen the same with Jerry John Rawlings and other leaders who secured victory at their first attempt.”
Mr. Opoku Ansah concluded by urging delegates to make a bold and strategic choice by voting for Dr Bryan Acheampong to position the party strongly for the future and ensure electoral success in 2028
