NPP renew ties with Media General after constructive talks
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially announced the immediate lifting of its boycott on all platforms owned by Media General, marking a renewed chapter in the relationship between the opposition party and the media group.
In a press statement dated February 12, 2026, and signed by the party’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, the NPP disclosed that the decision takes effect immediately and covers all forms of engagement.
These include interviews, panel discussions, press conferences, and media briefings involving party executives and representatives.
According to the statement, the decision follows what it described as “constructive discussions” between the leadership of the party and the management of Media General.
Both sides have reportedly agreed on new ground rules aimed at upholding higher professional standards and ensuring fair and balanced interactions that serve the public interest.
The party expressed optimism about rebuilding and strengthening its partnership with the media organisation, noting that the renewed engagement is part of broader efforts to deepen democratic governance in Ghana.
The boycott, which had limited the party’s participation in programmes on Media General platforms, had been a subject of public debate in recent months.
The latest development signals a de-escalation of tensions and a commitment to improved collaboration between political actors and the media.
