Nana Addo -Bawumia led administration has steered Ghana’s ship to disaster – PPP

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has accused the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia, of steering Ghana's ship towards disaster.
The PPP, backed by Dr Paa Kwesi Ndoum, a business mogul asserts that the NPP has navigated the nation's broken ship through state capture and the misuse of state resources for personal gains.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on February 5, 2024, the National Chairman of the PPP, Nana Ofori Owusu, stated that the country is torn apart by the winds of vindictive policies, partisanship, and unnecessary politicisation.
He expressed concern that Ghana has become the most polarised since gaining independence.
Mr Owusu pointed out that public offices and boards of directors have been filled with party supporters and sympathisers, sidelining professional and objective individuals.
He emphasised that the poisonous influence of party loyalty has seeped into state institutions, affecting the Judiciary, security forces, regulatory bodies, and the core of the government.
According to Mr Owusu, the once-blind justice system now squints through eyes clouded by political favours, and the Rule of Law, once a cornerstone of the nation, crumbles under the weight of Executive overreach.
He argued that, under this administration, one needs a party card or connections in leadership positions within the ruling party to secure positions in the security services or revenue services.
Mr Owusu further criticised the so-called flagship policies of the Akufo-Addo administration, including Free SHS, alleging reports of political engineering to produce artificial positive examination reports for schoolchildren who are beneficiaries of the policy.
The PPP contends that the NPP's governance has eroded trust, crippled accountability, and fostered a climate of political favouritism across various sectors of the nation.
