National Security operatives stole Ernest Addison’s cash, wife’s jewellery – Afenyo-Markin alleges

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused National Security operatives of stealing cash and valuable items belonging to Dr. Ernest Addison, the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, during a recent raid on his residence.
According to Afenyo-Markin, the operatives, who stormed Dr. Addison’s home on March 19, 2025, allegedly took away an undisclosed amount of cash and jewellery belonging to his wife.
The raid, which took place at Roman Ridge in Accra, was reportedly led by Richard Jakpa, the Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat.
The heavily armed operatives, some wearing headgear and wielding AK-47 rifles, allegedly disabled CCTV cameras before searching the property.
Afenyo-Markin, speaking press conference held in Parliament, condemned the operation, describing it as a blatant act of state-sponsored intimidation and theft.
He demanded an immediate investigation into the incident and called for accountability from John Mahama's administration.
"It is unacceptable that National Security operatives, under the guise of conducting a search, would invade the privacy of a former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, steal his money, and take his wife’s jewellery," Afenyo-Markin stated.
