The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a public notice clarifying ongoing proceedings regarding former Finance Minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta’s application for the removal of his name from INTERPOL’s Red Notice.

According to the OSP, the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files informed Ghanaian authorities in October 2025 that Mr. Ofori-Atta had formally applied to have his name removed from the Red Notice.

Ghana submitted its response to the application on 22 October 2025.

The Commission later notified Ghana, in a communication dated 7 November 2025, that Mr. Ofori-Atta had filed additional arguments in an addendum.

The Commission subsequently requested that Ghana respond to the new submissions by 21 November 2025.

The OSP emphasised that the proceedings are still ongoing, and the Commission is currently studying the case.

It further noted that during such proceedings, the applicant’s name, image, and related details are typically redacted from public access until a final decision is reached.

The public has been advised to disregard any contrary publications, which the OSP said are driven by “mischief and misinformation.”

The notice was issued on 19 November 2025.
