Opoku-Agyemang urges EC to ensure transparency in Dec. polls

The Vice-Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to remain transparent and impartial in its dealings with all political parties to ensure peaceful and credible elections.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the chiefs and elders of Dadieso in the Suaman Constituency as part of her campaign tour of the Western North Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized Ghana’s reputation for peace and stability.
She noted that the Electoral Commission has a responsibility to uphold these values by conducting itself fairly and transparently in its interactions with political parties and other stakeholders.
She also urged traditional rulers and opinion leaders to safeguard the peace in the country by speaking out against any actions by the EC that could compromise the integrity of the upcoming elections.
"We only have one Ghana, and I urge our traditional leaders to speak against any actions of the Electoral Commission that undermine the credibility of the December 7 general elections," she stressed.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang further called on the chiefs and people of the Aowin Constituency to support the NDC’s Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama, by voting for him in the upcoming elections.
She highlighted Mahama’s plans to reset the country, including the implementation of the "Big Push" initiative, the 24-hour Economy policy to create jobs, and the establishment of a Women’s Development Bank to economically empower women.
Nana Manah Kwabena III, Kyidomhene of the Suaman Traditional Council, praised the NDC for its contributions to the development of the Suaman area, stating that the party has demonstrated why it deserves the support of Ghanaians in the upcoming general elections.
