Our ‘Thank You’ tour is aimed at reconnecting with the grassroots- Asiedu Nketia

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has defended his ongoing nationwide “Thank You Tour”, explaining that the initiative is aimed at reconnecting the party’s national leadership with its grassroots base following the NDC’s recent election victory.
Speaking during an engagement with branch and constituency executives, ward coordinators, former party officials, cadres, and Assembly members in the Ketu North Constituency, Mr. Asiedu Nketia expressed gratitude to the party’s rank and file for their hard work and dedication during the campaign.
“People across the country are applauding us for the victory, but we give you—the grassroots—the real credit,” he stated, drawing loud applause from attendees.
The NDC Chairman urged calm and patience among party members, assuring them that the new Mahama administration is committed to creating equitable opportunities for all loyal supporters.
He acknowledged concerns raised by members who have not yet been appointed to government roles, but emphasised that the leadership is working methodically to ensure fairness and inclusivity in appointments.
“We are aware of your concerns,” he said. “But I assure you, this government belongs to all of us, and every dedicated member will have the opportunity to serve in one way or another.”
Mr. Asiedu Nketia also cautioned against internal divisions within the NDC, urging members to remain disciplined and united as the party consolidates power.
He warned that internal rivalries could undermine progress, citing the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a cautionary example.
“If we misuse the positions we have been given, our party could be divided like the NPP’s,” he said. “What the NPP is doing now is a contest to hell—their flagbearer aspirants are openly criticising each other and listing each other’s faults.
We must never go down that path.”
