Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin has admonished individuals who desire to enter the game of politics to be careful and vigilant.

Addressing the newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency executives, Afenyo-Markin advised them not to go into politics without a spiritual protection.

According to him, "politics is a spiritual exercise", hence cautioned the executives stressing "don't do it with naked eyes".

The New Patriotic Party held its constituency executive primaries to elect their leaders for the 276 constituencies.

Although the election didn't go without controversies as some parts of the electoral areas ended up in chaos with a recent case being the arrest of an ardent member of the party, Okatakyie Afrifa, the NPP is however generally satisfied with the outcome of the election.

With exception of Afigya Sekyere East constituency and a few places where there were pockets of violence, the election across the various constituencies was primarily peaceful.

At Afigya Sekyere East constituency, Okatakyie Afrifa, who has shown interest to contest the parliamentary seat, found himself in the grip of the Ghana Police for reportedly disrupting the electoral process.

Three constituencies namely Bantama, Adansi Asokwa and Afigya Sekyere East have had their election results canceled, according to a statement by the NPP.

The party leadership noted that the elections in these three constituencies were conducted in a "flagrant disregard of Party directives, the rules and regulations governing the 2026 Constitutency Executive Elections and, where applicable, subsisting court orders".

As these constituencies await a new date for the election, Afenyo-Markin met the executives who have been sucessfully elected and while talking to them, he warned them regarding the dangers of politics.

"I repeat one more time. Politics is a spiritual exercise; it's not for the naked eye. Call on your God and He will come to your aid at your crossroads", he hollered.
