Poll predicts NDC victory in Ayawaso East by-election
A new opinion poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics indicates that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is well-positioned to retain the Ayawaso East parliamentary seat in the March 2026 by-election.
The survey suggests that either of the two leading contenders in the NDC’s parliamentary primary would decisively defeat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate in a direct contest.
According to the poll, NDC aspirant Hajia Amina Adams commands a strong lead over the NPP’s Baba Ali, polling 73 percent of voter support against 27 percent.
In a separate hypothetical matchup, Baba Jamal also records a comfortable victory, securing 67 percent compared to Baba Ali’s 33 percent.
The findings were disclosed by the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, in a Facebook post on Thursday, February 5.
The poll further reveals that Hajia Amina Adams is the clear frontrunner in the NDC’s Ayawaso East parliamentary primary ahead of the by-election.
She leads the field with 58 percent support among respondents, followed by Baba Jamal with 32 percent.
Other aspirants trail significantly, with Muhammed Ramne polling 5 percent, Dr. Yakubu Azindow 3 percent, and Najib Muhammed Sani 2 percent.
The results point to a strong likelihood of an NDC hold on the Ayawaso East seat, regardless of which of the two leading candidates emerges as the party’s parliamentary candidate.
