President Mahama launches first-ever KPIs for Ghanaian ambassadors

President John Dramani Mahama has launched the first-ever Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Ghanaian Ambassadors, marking a historic step in reshaping the country’s diplomatic service.
The initiative, unveiled at a ceremony in Accra, is designed to ensure that Ghana’s envoys deliver measurable and impactful diplomacy that aligns with the government’s vision of resetting and transforming the nation’s foreign policy.
Speaking at the launch, President Mahama emphasised the importance of accountability and results-driven diplomacy in today’s competitive global landscape.
He stressed that ambassadors would now be assessed on their ability to create tangible opportunities for trade, investment, and international cooperation that directly benefit Ghanaians.
“We shall make sure we deliver impactful diplomacy to reset, transform, and create real opportunities for all,” the President affirmed.
The KPIs are expected to guide Ghana’s missions abroad in prioritising economic diplomacy, deepening bilateral ties, and advancing the country’s strategic interests on the global stage.
Analysts say the move signals a shift towards a performance-based diplomatic culture that could enhance Ghana’s global competitiveness while ensuring greater returns on foreign service investments.
