President Mahama welcomes King of Eswatini, pledges stronger Ghana–Eswatini ties

President John Dramani Mahama has extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to His Royal Majesty King Mswati III of Eswatini, who is in Ghana on an official visit.
Speaking at the Jubilee House, President Mahama described the visit as a significant milestone in deepening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Ghana and Eswatini.
He reaffirmed Ghana’s enduring commitment to building stronger partnerships across the African continent, drawing inspiration from the legacy of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
“Ghana, as the first sub-Saharan African country to gain independence, played a pivotal role in the liberation of several African nations,” Mahama said.
“This visit is a testament to our shared history and a renewed commitment to continental unity and progress.”
As part of the King’s visit, a key engagement is scheduled with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The Ashanti monarch, who was in Accra earlier, has returned to Kumasi to prepare to receive the King of Eswatini.
President Mahama described the visit as the dawn of a new chapter in Ghana–Eswatini relations, one grounded in mutual respect, cultural ties, and a shared vision for a united and prosperous Africa.
In his response, King Mswati III expressed delight at returning to Ghana, emphasising his hope for closer collaboration between the two nations.
“We are excited to be in Ghana again, and we look forward to strengthening the cooperation and ties between our two countries,” he said.
