Prof Kaufmann overjoyed by Prof NJOA's historic vice presidency, confident of her success
Engineer and educator Prof Elsie Effah Kaufmann has expressed her joy over Ghana recording its first-ever female vice president.
On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the iconic Independence (Black Stars) Square, Accra, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang (NJOA) was sworn in as Vice President of Ghana.

The celebrated academic was first announced as President John Mahama's running mate for the 2020 election. It was four years after that they were to see success as a political pair on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), however.
A former education minister, Prof NJOA was also the first-ever female vice chancellor at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), serving between 2008 and 2012.
For National Maths & Science Quiz (NMSQ) quiz mistress Prof Kaufmann, Prof Opoku-Agyemang's occupation of the second most powerful office in the country is nothing short of inspirational. She expects it to stir the spirits of girls and women towards achieving exploits.
Prof Kaufmann also expressed confidence Prof NJOA will succeed tremendously in fulfilment of her mandate.
"Congratulations, HE! I can't guess how many girls have added "vice president" and "president" to their list of aspirations [because of you], but I believe they will be in the thousands," the Dean of the School of Engineering Sciences, University of Ghana (UG), wrote on social media.
"Thanks for being a pioneer," she eulogised, urging: "Now, please, show us how it's done right! [prayer or thanks emoji]."
