The Member of Parliament for Pru East Constituency in the Bono East Region, Mr Boam Kweku Emmanuel, has expressed optimism following the government's announcement of planned maintenance works on the Ejwura road — a vital commercial corridor linking southern and northern Ghana.

The MP noted that the road, which plays a key role in transporting goods and services between regions, has suffered from neglect for over two decades.

He welcomed the intervention by the Ministry of Roads and Highways, describing the upcoming maintenance as a long-overdue step that will boost economic activity in the area.

“The Ejura road is critical to our local economy. It connects major constituencies and facilitates the movement of goods, particularly from the north to the south,” Mr. Boam said. “Its rehabilitation will greatly improve livelihoods and enhance trade.”

In addition to the infrastructure upgrade, the MP also commended the Minister for the Interior for deploying police patrols to the Ejura stretch, which has recently been the target of armed robberies.

According to Mr. Boam, the increased security presence has led to a noticeable decline in crime, with two suspected robbers reportedly neutralised in the past two weeks.

He said the intervention has brought a renewed sense of safety to road users, especially traders and visitors to the bustling local fish market — a central hub in the area’s fish industry.
