Sagnerigu: Angry youth vandalise NPP office
The Eagle Eye, a youth group which claims to have an affiliation to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sagnerigu Constituency of the Northern Region, stormed the party's constituency office at Katara on Saturday, 21 September 2019 and vandalised the place.
About 33 of them destroyed computers, printers, office furniture and plastic chairs belonging to the party.
A member of the group, who gave his name as Issah Abubakari, told Class91.3FM’s Savanna regional correspondent, Zion Abdul Rauf that the NPP has neglected them after they worked hard to win victory for the party in the 2016 polls.
He cited the failure of the government to provide them jobs as the main reason for the group's action, adding that many of their members applied to be part of the ongoing training for the National Identification Authority (NIA) card registration exercise in the region but were turned away.
Abubakari said the group's anger should serve as a clear warning to the national executives of the NPP that none of the members of the Eagle Eye will suffer for the party for the 2020 elections if nothing is done to address their concerns.
