The Member of Parliament for Suhum in the Eastern Region, Mr Frank Bekoe, has held separate high-level meetings with the Minority Leadership in Parliament and the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, to discuss climate change and measures to address its growing impact.

The engagements formed part of discussions with a visiting delegation from the United Kingdom-based Conservative Environment Network (CEN), aimed at strengthening collaboration on environmental protection and sustainable development.

The delegation comprised Philippa Broom, Senior Adviser, and John Flesher, Deputy Director of CEN.

During the meetings, participants examined the effects of climate change on vulnerable communities and explored practical strategies to mitigate environmental risks and promote sustainable solutions.

Discussions also focused on the role of policymakers in advancing climate-friendly legislation, enhancing environmental governance, and encouraging international partnerships to tackle the global crisis.

Mr. Bekoe emphasised the importance of cooperation between Ghana and international stakeholders to safeguard the environment and ensure long-term resilience against climate-related challenges.

The meetings highlight growing parliamentary interest in climate action and the need for stronger policy responses to protect livelihoods and ecosystems across the country.
