Mrs Simone Giger and Mr Mbomba

Switzerland has praised Ghana for the quality of cocoa exported to that country.

Switzerland is arguably best known for its milk chocolate, with milk chocolate making up 80% of all chocolate consumed in the country.

The chocolate is made from Ghana’s cocoa exported to the mountainous Central European country.

Switzerland heaped this praise on Ghana when its Ambassador-designate to Ghana, Mrs Simone Giger, presented her open letters of credence to the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Thomas Mbomba, last week.

During the presentation, the Ambassador-designate noted that the cooperation between Ghana and Switzerland covers areas such as education, trade and investment, as well as issues of multilateral nature.

Mrs Giger commended the government’s efforts at climate protection alluding to an agreement that was signed between both countries recently. In matters relating to trade, the Ambassador-designate said Ghana’s cocoa exported to the country is of high quality. She indicated her commitment to further deepen the strong bonds of friendship between the two countries during her tenure of duty.

For his part, the Deputy Minister welcomed the Ambassador-designate and congratulated her on her new appointment.

He further commended the Swiss Government for its immense support to the country in its fight against the outbreak of covid-19.

He assured the Ambassador-designate of the Ministry’s readiness to support her during her tenure and to widen and deepen cooperation in sectors of mutual benefit and interest to both countries.
