The time for genuine transformation is now- Fifi Kwetey to Ghanaians

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has called on Ghanaians to rise above political rivalries and embrace the spirit of unity and purposeful leadership inspired by the June 4 uprising.
Speaking at the 46th anniversary celebration of the historic event held at Agormanya Lasi Park in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Mr. Kwetey described the June 4 uprising as a defining moment in Ghana's democratic history—one that continues to offer vital lessons for today’s leadership and governance.
“June 4 should serve as a compass,” he said. “It teaches us to listen more, speak less, and act with caution—principles that are still deeply relevant today.”
Mr. Kwetey emphasised the need for Ghanaians to use history not just as a memory, but as a tool to foster thoughtful, principled leadership. He urged citizens to prioritise national unity and a collective development agenda over narrow partisan interests.
“This is not about pointing fingers at the NPP or letting the NDC off the hook,” he stated. “It’s about holding ourselves to a higher standard. Ghana can no longer afford the politics of mediocrity. The time for genuine transformation is now.”
He encouraged Ghanaians to demand more from both major political parties—NDC and NPP—stressing that real progress will come only when the nation collectively chooses integrity, accountability, and unity over division and blame.
Joining him at the event was the Member of Parliament for Korley Klottey, Hon. Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, who also underscored the relevance of the June 4 principles in today’s political landscape.
National Chairman of the NDC, Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, also addressed the gathering, calling on party faithful and the general public to reflect deeply on the sacrifices made during the uprising and recommit to the values of justice, patriotism, and responsible leadership.
The event brought together party leaders, supporters, and community members in remembrance of the uprising that reshaped Ghana’s political consciousness and continues to influence its democratic journey.Fifi Kwetey urges national unity and principled leadership at June 4 commemoration
