Voter roll: NDC to broadcast meeting live despite EC rejection
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to ensure that its upcoming meeting with the Electoral Commission (EC) over the 2024 provisional voters register is broadcast live.
The NDC is pushing for transparency and has questioned the integrity of the voter registration process.
The party initially requested a meeting with the EC in a letter dated Tuesday, 27 August 2024 to address the alleged irregularities.
A follow-up request on Thursday, 5 September for the meeting, scheduled for Friday, 6 September 2024, to be aired live was rejected by the EC.
Dr. Omane Boamah, the NDC's Director of Elections, took to Facebook to assert that the party would take matters into its own hands to ensure transparency.
"At today’s meeting at the Corporate office of the EC near the National Cathedral, we shall also serve as the broadcast outlets in the meeting and after the meeting," he noted, indicating that NDC representatives would live stream the proceedings.
He also criticised what he described as the “LOUD SILENCE of the ruling NPP despite the anomalies” related to the provisional voters register, suggesting possible complicity by the NPP in the alleged discrepancies.
Dr. Boamah further cautioned the EC against any attempts to manipulate the electoral process in favour of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
"We will not tolerate the unfolding daylight advance robbery/rigging of Election 2024 to materialise," he warned.
