The High Court in Accra has rejected an application aiming to compel President Akufo-Addo to accept the transmission of the anti-LGBTQ bill, which was approved by Parliament.

This decision comes following a judicial review application initiated by South Dayi MP, Nelson Rockson Dafeamekpor, who sought to employ the powers of mandamus to prompt Parliament to transmit the bill and obligate the president to consider it.

The Attorney General, in opposition to the application, argued that granting the request would exceed the High Court's jurisdiction. Consequently, the court, presided over by Justice Ellen Lordina Serwaa Mireku, ruled against the application, citing pending Supreme Court matters as a reason for its inappropriateness at the moment.

In response, Nii Kpakpo Somoa Addo, the legal representative for Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has announced intentions to appeal the ruling.
