Four Catch Them Young Referees are to officiate the curtain-raiser match of the 2025 Democracy Cup, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.

The Democracy Cup, designed to celebrate the spirit of unity and Ghana's decades-old democracy, will have a curtain-raiser match with the Legislature playing against the Judiciary. The whistle goes off at 3 PM today, Friday, September 5, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium, Accra.

GFA explained, "The match will bring together two key arms of government in a symbolic show of sportsmanship and camaraderie.

"On the parliamentary side, Majority Leader Hon. Mahama Ayariga will line up alongside Minority Leader Hon. Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, with staff of Parliament completing the squad. They will be up against a Judiciary team made up of leading judges and staff of the Judicial Service."

"Young referee Christopher Okpoti will serve as the centre referee, supported by Andy Afotey Annan (Assistant I) and Kamal Iddrisu (Assistant II). Nana Kofi Amoah will take charge as the fourth official," GFA added.

The Parliament v Judiciary fixture officially begins the second edition of the Democracy Cup.
