2026 FIFA WCQ: Alexander Djiku, Joseph Paintsil to miss Black Stars clash with Chad Sept 4
Alexander Djiku and Joseph Paintsil will not participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad.
The pair will be present for the clash against Mali, however.
Notwithstanding being named in the Black Stars squad by Coach Otto Addo for the two games, Djiku and Paintsil could not make it to Accra to join the team as it departed for N'Djamena, yesterday, Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Paintsil arrived in Accra this morning, September 3, "having missed his connecting flight from New York to Accra due to a delayed departure from Los Angeles".
Meanwhile, "Alexander Djiku is in Moscow to sign a contract and will, therefore, arrive in Accra on Friday," GFA further revealed.
Thus, the Black Stars technical team will work with 22 players for the game against Chad, scheduled for N'Djamena tomorrow, Thursday, September 4.
